Bowl For Kids’ Sake is Big Brothers Big Sisters premier national fundraising event. Every year Big Brothers Big Sisters agencies from across the country gear up supporters to bowl a few strikes while helping kids in their community.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Nevada hosted our Bowl For Kids’ Sake on June 25, 2011 at the Strike Zone inside Sunset Station. The event drew a crowd of 175 bowlers and netted over $15,000 in bowling sponsorships and $1,400 in silent auction packages.

Bowlers competed in a Baker-style bowling tournament and snacked on pizza while they cosmic bowled. Bowling trophies were given in the following categories: Best Big Bowler, Christine Sheets; Best Little Bowler, Malkai; Team Spirit Award, Savers; Highest Team Score, TransAct Technologies.

We would like to especially thank our event sponsors, MoneyTree, Inc. and City National Bank for their generous contributions. Additionally, big thanks to Shira Wood, Mark Wayman, and Gerry Shear for their support in sponsoring the Big and Little Match Teams.

Thank you for helping make our event a Big success!

Annual Picnic: May 21, 2011

Brought back by popular demand, Bigs and Littles tug-of-war!

This year’s picnic was a blast!  We had over 200 attendees join us for our annual family picnic held at the Bill and Lillie Heinrich YMCA. The YMCA has been community partners through our Site-Based mentoring program since 2006. Our guests enjoyed a day full of games, arts and crafts, jump house, face painting, and sandwiches provided by Port of Subs.

Special thank you to our service men and women from Nellis Airforce Base who came out and spent their afternoon making a difference in a young child’s life.
